There are many types of mobile applications: Agricultural machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters, forestry machinery, construction machinery for road and tunnel construction, vehicles for street cleaning and garbage collection, pedestrian controlled vehicles such as forklift trucks and moving or stationary cranes in production plants and on construction sites or transshipment stations.It is important that products used in these environments can handle diverse temperature ranges that often change. And because they are exposed to intensive light radiation, they have to be UV resistant. The products have to withstand the effects of dust and high water pressure according to the IP66K standard, and they have to meet IP68 protection even after continuous submersion. They have to be resistant to frequent high-pressure washdowns. In addition, the products have to withstand shock and vibration. They must not corrode, they must be resistant to hydraulic and motor oils, and they must be suitable for applications with vehicle voltages of 12 to 30 V. These requirements by far exceed the demands in standard mechanical engineering. So far, single wire connections have been used in the construction of special vehicles. The disadvantage is that many individual components (cables, cable ties, ferrule ends) have to be manually assembled and the installation is very time consuming. Comprehensive cable ducts and conduits have to be employed. Furthermore, single wire installations are not very tight.Therefore, modular pluggable solutions are a perfect solution for many mobile applications. Using prewired connection cables and distribution boxes help save a lot of installation time. Complicated individual wiring is no longer necessary and homerun cables are connected instead of bulky wiring harnesses. The connectors are equipped with a hex thread. The torque wrench is a useful tool for connecting the cables precisely with a predefined torque. An axial and radial locking mechanism and an innovative formed gasket ensure stable plug connections even with vibrations and guarantee secure connections. M12 XTREME connection cables are made of robust PUR material that is especially flexible and resistant against vibration in moving applications. Murrelektronik uses a black, UV resistant jacket material.The MSUD XTREME valve plugs are equipped with a status LED that facilitates troubleshooting in installations. The valve plugs feature suppression components that dampen voltage peaks directly at the source so that the electronics are not affected when components such as generators and aggregates are switched on and off. The valve plugs are fully potted, which makes them sealed and resistant to vibrations. A captive silicon gasket that doesn’t get brittle even after many years of use, facilitates assembly. The fixing screw of the MSUD XTREME is made of stainless steel and the cables are sheathed in a robust PUR jacket that fulfills the requirements of mobile applications. The connectors are available with M12 plugs on one end, which complies with the concept of consistent pluggable connections with these installation solutions.M12 XTREME connection cables and MSUD EXTREME valve plugs are also available with open ended wires for direct cabling in control cabinets.The MVP XTREME is a distribution box with an impact-resistant, fully potted plastic housing for mobile applications. It is equipped with stainless steel threads and the cable is made of robust PUR material that is suitable for C-tracks (up to 2 million cycles). Ultrabright LEDs make it possible to see with one glance the operating condition of the individual ports, even from a distance. MVP XTREME has eight M12 sockets that can transfer one or two signals.
